I’ve been bullied behind my back. It was very satisfying to see something good come out of it: friends defending me, the bully facing a consequence – all without me having to take any action.

It must be even more satisfying when you cause instant victory.

Read this story to see how someone on the receiving end of a bully took action and witnessed the impact firsthand.

In my senior year of high school (a long time ago) we had a basketball game, Senior Class vs. Faculty. I was one of the referees.

One of my fellow seniors was a guy on the basketball team who regularly tried to bully and belittle me, and hated it when I didn’t give him the answer he wanted.

I’m not a sports fan, but even I know it’s a slick move.

Almost at the end of the game.

While the Seniors were down by 1, a faculty member pushed both this man and another man, also from the basketball team, a bit of pressure during a rebound attempt.

The other guy (90% free throw shooter) was probably the one who was actually fouled, but this bully, who I had PE with and who I knew couldn’t shoot free throws to save his life, and who for about 50% out was the The guy I said made a mistake, and I put him on the line for a 1-and-1.

Did you point and laugh?

Please say yes. Or might that lead to more bullying?

He built the first one.

The faculty got the rebound and the faculty ultimately won.

I think this is what the kids call a microphone drop. Congratulations on your sweet, sweet victory.

He tried to talk trash about my riffs, and I just said, “Well, at least I didn’t take a free throw in front of the entire senior class and lose the game.”

Then I walked away, not without hearing his friends scold him for getting roasted by the man he kept harassing.

Let’s see if the commenters found this as satisfying as OP.

This is so healthy! I hope OP’s comeuppance helps heal many bullied people.

This commenter advised taking advantage of the revenge. However, this is not ethical.

Wise words. If you’re being bullied, it’s not your fault and it’s not about you.

Take it from me: bullies usually get what’s coming to them. Enjoy the support of others and move on!
