4 arrested for cultism and theft in Edo

The operatives of the Edo State Police Command have arrested four suspects allegedly involved in cultism and armed robbery in the state.

The suspects Collins Edo Yusuf (27), Enoma Edebiri Enabulele (22), Agho Ehije (35) and Marauf Lasisi (48) were arrested by the Anti-Kidnapping and Cyber ​​Crime Unit of the command in the Okhoro area of ​​Benin City.

He said the officers during a patrol in the township intercepted two tricycles carrying many suspects, adding that four of the suspects were arrested while two other suspects escaped on sighting the police.

He said that during a search of the suspects’ residences, two pump-action rifles, a local custom-made pistol, three rounds of live cartridges and spells were recovered.

Adegboye said the suspects have made statements and confessed to being members of a secret cult and armed robbery gang terrorizing Benin City and its environs, adding that efforts are on to arrest the fleeing suspects.
