A 16-year-old was in custody Wednesday in connection with a park shooting that injured four people, including two children, in Detroit, Police Chief James White said.

White did not release any details about the arrest or the suspect.

His “relationship with the people who were fighting could jeopardize the work that the prosecutor has to do… but once that part of everything is buttoned up, there will be a lot more details, even a photo of the person and some more details.” (of) the case,” he said at a press conference at the department’s headquarters on Monday.

“I wanted the community to know that no one else is in danger. When you have a quadruple shooting, you get a lot of calls from people saying, ‘What’s going on with the arrests, is there someone in custody?'” White said .

One of the 18-year-old victims, a pregnant woman, was “still fighting for her life,” White said. “It appears that the child will fortunately survive, at least for now.”

The other woman was in serious condition; The children, ages 3 and 6, were expected to make a full recovery, White said.

The shooting happened in a park near Westfield and Faust avenues around 9 p.m., when a fight broke out between two women. One of the females called a male companion who had a firearm in his backpack, and he allegedly shot the four victims.

White, when asked if the suspect’s parents could face charges, said police are working to identify other suspects and later the origin of the suspected weapon used and “all aspects that led to this moment and the tragedy of the murder’ to release. four people are shot.”

“At this point, the community simply needs to know that there is no further risk of these suspects or this suspect hurting anyone else,” White said.
