The search for missing Kallista man Zak continues more than a week after he was last seen in Kallista.

Police released an updated image on their Facebook eyewatch page in the past 24 hours and social media groups have raised awareness of Zak’s disappearance.

Local SES volunteers continue to assist police with the search and navigate difficult terrain to locate the missing 22-year-old – who has a medical condition.

Zak was last seen on Norton Road, Kallista, on the evening of April 28.

Police suspect that Zak went for a walk in Sherbrooke Forest in the early morning of April 29.

SES Lilydale controller Shaun Caulfield said concerns are growing as the number of days since Zak disappeared increases.

“We hope for the best result,” he said.

Temperatures were cold in the areas overnight and Mr Caulfield said being outside ‘wouldn’t have been pleasant’.

Posters have gone up all over the hills appealing to the public for news of the young man, and police and family are concerned about Zak.

His disappearance is out of character and police stated that he had a medical condition when they were made public on Eyewatch.

Zak is described as Caucasian in appearance, 170cm tall, medium build with short blond/brown hair and possibly a moustache.

About 50 SES volunteers from Emerald, Lilydale and Monash units are assisting police with the forest search.

Mr Caulfield said the terrain has been quite tough and the SES has gone straight into the gullies and waterways.

“The search has been very thorough,” he said.

Zak was last seen wearing a gray jacket, mustard T-shirt, navy blue track pants and black shoes.

Anyone who sees Zak is urged to contact Belgrave Police Station on (03) 9754 6677 or call 000.
