Brewers vs. Royals prediction, odds, pick, how to watch

Brace yourself for intense interleague action as the Milwaukee Brewers take on the Kansas City Royals. Join our MLB odds series where our Brewers-Royals prediction and picks will be revealed.

Entering the new week, it’s Milwaukee who has compiled a pretty solid 20-13 record thus far despite losing two of three games against the Chicago Cubs this weekend. Regardless of the recent results, the Brewers remain at the top of the NL Central standings along with the Cubbies. Lined up for the start from the mound is Colin Rea, who has had a fantastic start to the 2024 MLB season. So far, Rea is a perfect 3-0 from the bump and also boasts a 2.67 ERA through six starts.

Could the Kansas City Royals be one of baseball’s surprise teams this summer? So far their vast improvement is more than evident. Like the Brewers, it was the Royals who suffered defeat in back-to-back games this weekend, but KC’s overall record of 20-15 suggests they are more than capable of bouncing back. In an attempt to take on Rea, it will be righty Seth Lugo, who is also arguably one of the best baseball players alive today. With a record of 5-1 and a 1.60 average, there is no doubt that Lugo should be a tough challenge for the Brewers and their bats.

Why the brewers will cover the distribution/profit

Known for their dynamic throwing and clutch ability over the years, Milwaukee is staring down an opponent that plays much the same as themselves. For Milwaukee to stay at the top of the NL Central, it will need to put together a near-flawless performance on the diamond.

For starters, a little more consistency in the form of the offense should be emphasized. With outfielder Christian Yelich’s absence due to injury not being ideal, the offense has stalled a bit. Outside of William Contreras’ beautiful play from the batter’s box, the offense struggled to support him. Overall, Milwaukee is loaded with young talent offensively, but that comes with a lot of growing pains. Believe it or not, the Brewers have the youngest lineup in baseball. Ultimately, facing runners in scoring position and recording productive at-bats will be huge for Milwaukee’s chances of covering the spread.

Long story short, Milwaukee’s greatest strength may be in sweeping bags on the basepaths. On the surface, Milwaukee has recorded the fourth-most stolen bases in the league and if they get the chance in getting on base, they can make it difficult for Kansas City with their aggressiveness to push the boundaries in this sense.

Why the Royals will cover the spread/profit

Not only will the combination of Lugo, the home crowd and even the red-hot play of backstop Salvador Perez be crucial in Kansas City’s quest to cover the spread, but it will also be important to watch for the Royals. to string together a complete performance from their pitching staff.

In addition to a brilliant performance from Mr. Lugo himself, the Royals also need the bullpen to keep the deadly Brewers bats at bay. That said, getting a good start and stringing together some scoreless frames early and often will be crucial for KC’s confidence.

After a few years of clearly being in rebuilding mode, the Royals’ patience is paying off big time. While veterans like Perez behind the dish have helped soften the blow of a rebuild, it’s names like Bobby Witt Jr. which has Royals fans extremely ecstatic about the future of the organization. With a guy like Witt Jr, the 23-year-old is an extremely tough nut to crack when hitting for high contact and is currently pulling in a superior .319 at the plate. Will the rising superstar have what it takes to send the Brewers packing back to the hotel?
