These Helldivers 2 review bombcapes actually go pretty fast

The radioactive dust is just starting to settle on the argument that took place there Hell divers 2 PSN account linking debacle, but you can feel the collective sigh of relief from players and developers alike now that Sony has caved and dropped the requirement. Now that peace has once again spread across the land, some Helldivers 2 players have proposed a cape design to commemorate the event, decorated with a pattern based on the huge spike in negative Steam reviews that finally brought the whole thing to a head floated.

Arrowhead CEO (and creative director of Helldivers 2) Johan Pilestedt shared a snippet he saw in a community member’s post, showing three vertical red lines on a blue background – instantly recognizable to anyone in the know as a sudden influx of negative Steam reviews, just like the kind the co-op game received last week.

β€œThe accidental cape design is pretty cool,” he says admitted.

A different designthis one, given the full mockup treatment, has a navy blue background with the ‘recent reviews’ graph, this time including the redeeming blue spike of positive reviews, which have been coming in since the announcement that Sony had changed course on the requirement to pair a PSN account to play Helldivers 2 on PC.

Other designs add the Helldivers skull logo and other elements, including bombs at the end of the red bars indicating negative reviews.

It’s really hard to think of a comparable event in the last twenty years of games – a breakthrough that becomes this big, receives such a huge backlash three months after launch, and ultimately corrects course and (hopefully) continues for a long time and live happily. So whether or not a commemorative cape is made for the occasion, this will be one we will remember for a long time.
