Lynda Carter writes emotional tribute to her ‘beautiful’ ‘Wonder Woman’ stuntwoman Jeannie Epper after her death

Epper died at her home on May 5 at the age of 83

Carter’s main stuntwoman will perform on May 5 Wonder WomanJeannie Epper has died, her family confirmed The Hollywood Reporter. She was 83.

Carter, 72, reacted to the news when she shared a photo from the set of herself and Epper from the hit ’70s TV show in matching outfits. Wonder Woman costumes.

“I have a lot to say about Jeannie Epper. Most of all, I loved her. I always felt that we understood and appreciated each other,” Carter wrote in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on May 6. “It was the 1970s after all. We were united in the way women needed to be to thrive in a man’s world, through mutual respect, intellect and cooperation.”

Carter continued, “Jeannie was a vanguard who paved the way for all the other stuntwomen who came after. Just like Diana was Wonder Woman, Jeannie Epper was also a Wonder Woman. She is so beautiful to me. Jeannie, I will miss you.”

On May 5, Epper died of natural causes at her home in Simi Valley, California, her family said THR.

From the beginning of her career – which started when she was just 9 years old and rode a horse bareback down the mountain, per Entertainment weekly — Epper pushed boundaries and earned more than 160 stunt credits in her time.

She came from a family of stunt people, as her father, John Epper, began working as a stuntman in the 1930s, and she and all five of her siblings followed in his footsteps.

Describing the family’s style, Steven Spielberg recalled that there were “Eppers flying everywhere” during the production of 1941 In the 70’s.

“There were Eppers coming from the left on the screen, Eppers coming from the right, they were everywhere,” he said during an interview for a 2004 documentary, Double daringper THR.

Jeannie was also a member of the group of stunt performers that Spielberg, 77, nicknamed the “Flying Wallendas of Film” as she became a mainstay in the stunt world, making history in 2007 as the first woman to receive a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Taurus World Stunt Awards, the most prestigious award in the field.

Jeannie is survived by her husband Tim, her children Eurlyne and Richard, five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
