Korean national arrested with undeclared US dollars worth more than 3 lakh

A Korean national was detained by CISF personnel at the Delhi airport on Sunday for allegedly illicitly carrying over 3 lakh US dollars worth around Rs 2.80 crore, a senior officer of the force said.

The passenger was heading to Bangkok on a Thai Airways flight and was intercepted around 1am during security checks at Terminal-3 of the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport, the officer added.

A total of USD 3,39,000, worth around Rs 2.80 crore at current exchange rates, was found in the luggage of the Korean national, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) officer said.

The CISF handed over the passenger and the money to the customs as he could not provide any valid reason or document for carrying such a huge amount of money, he added.
