BASEBALL: Vikings fall to Bellevue in NSAA semifinals

DICKINSON, ND – Valley City State University fell 5-0 to top seed Bellevue University in the semifinals of the NSAA baseball tournament on Sunday.

The Vikings scored six goals, but were unable to score a point in the championship semi-finals.

VCSU (21-32) is still alive in the tournament and will compete in the losers-away semifinal against the winner of Viterbo and Waldorf on Monday at 9 a.m. MT. If the Vikings win that game, they will face Bellevue in the championship.

Bellevue (38-12) advances to the championship on Monday and will have to beat twice.

Monday’s scheduled games have been moved up 2 hours from their original time due to the rain forecast on Monday afternoon.

Kahlil Tilbury started on the mound and gave the Vikings 8 solid innings against Bellevue’s dangerous offense. Tilbury scattered six hits and four runs, three of which were earned. He walked four batters and struck out four. Bellevue scored single runs in the first, second, sixth, eighth and ninth inning.

Tory Nelson led the Vikings with a pair of hits. Cam Pero doubled, and Cody Wielgosh, Dustin Mertz And Jaden Babiuk each single.
