OU Softball wins Bedlam Final 8-2 on senior day

A brilliant start from graduate right-hander Karlie Keeney and a six-run sixth inning powered the No. 2 Oklahoma softball team to an 8-2 victory over No. 4/4 Oklahoma State on Sunday afternoon at Love’s Field to close out the game. latest Big 12 Bedlam Presented by Phillips 66 Series.

The Sooners (46-6, 22-5 Big 12) highlighted the final day by defeating Oklahoma State (44-9, 21-6 Big 12) 13-7 on the day. OU now has a 103-74 lead in Bedlam, including a 45-23 lead in Norman.

Keeney provided Oklahoma with a gem in her final start of the regular season, pitching 6.2 shutout innings while scattering four hits and striking out three. The right-hander improved to 5-1 on the season, needing just 81 pitches to record 20 outs.

OU jumped on the board in the fourth thanks to an opposite-field two-run home run off the bat of freshman Kasidi Pickering (1-for-3, R, HR, 2 RBI), giving Keeney a 2-0 lead. Oklahoma’s starter posted another out in the fifth before being relieved in the sixth. OSU scored two runs off the Sooner bullpen, tying the game at 2-2, before Keeney was able to end the threat after re-entering.

The Sooners responded with a bang, scoring six runs in the bottom of the sixth, highlighted by back-to-back blasts from Ella Parker and Tiare Jennings (1-for-4, R, HR, RBI). After a go-ahead RBI single from Jayda Coleman (1-for-4, R, RBI), Parker launched a monstrous three-run home run to center to cap a stellar 3-for-4 day at the plate . Jennings hit a solo shot to left-center, then Hannah Coor added an RBI single to a pair of batters to end the scoring.

Keeney finished OSU with a scoreless seventh-place finish, securing the victory on senior day and placing Oklahoma in second place at the 2024 Big 12 Softball Championship.

Senior left fielder Rylie Boone posted a 3-for-3 day at the plate and joined Parker as the Sooners with three-hit games.
