It wasn’t a fun time to be a Helldivers 2 player last weekend, with Sony recently announcing that all players will need to link a PSN account to the game in order to continue playing. But many countries in the world are unable to do this, which has led to the game being removed from 170 countries.

Despite all the setbacks, including hundreds of thousands of negative reviews on Steam, Helldivers 2 has managed to keep its player count up, at least for now. But the future of Helldivers 2 remains uncertain and its success or failure will depend on whether Sony corrects and reverses this decision. If the publishers choose to continue, it will cut off much of the world from being able to purchase and play Helldivers 2.

According to Steamdb, Helldivers 2 peaked today, May 5, at around 110,000 concurrent players. Typically this number has been between 115,000 and 120,000 concurrent players, so while it is slightly lower, it is not uncommon. Only time will tell if this figure can be maintained, especially after Sony removed Helldivers 2 from 170 countries and territories. This could be a temporary restriction until this controversy is resolved, but for now many players around the world cannot purchase the game, and soon many will no longer be able to play it.

If you’re still sticking with the game despite all the controversy, the next Major Order should go live early this week. This comes after the Helldivers had to deactivate the Terminid Control System after the Terminids became resistant to Termicide.

It’s unclear if this worked or if the Terminids are getting stronger every day, so to ensure victory we highly recommend checking out our Helldivers 2 best weapons guide and best armor guide so you and your team can have the best of it serving liber tea.
