Brentford Women 2 Clapton Community 0

Brentford comfortably defeated Clapton Community 2-0 in their final home game of the season on Sunday afternoon.

The Bees almost got off to a perfect start when Lucy Bolitho found himself behind Clapton’s defense just two minutes later, but the forward shot was well saved by the visiting team’s keeper.

Clapton herself had a good chance in the opening five minutes as Marta Casanovas pushed her way through the hosts’ backline, but her shot went straight at Evie Witek.

Maddie Phillips came within inches of giving the home side the lead after 20 minutes when her free-kick from 25 yards forced a good save from the Clapton keeper.

Neither team could exert their authority on the game as the first half was quiet in terms of chances.

Chloe Logie had some good touches for the hosts, but the forward was lacking in service in a frustrating opening half for the Bees.

Emily Link came close to giving Clapton the lead just before half-time when her shot from distance hit the top of the crossbar before going out of play.

The Bees started the second half in positive fashion, taking the lead after 49 minutes through a Jodie Reid striker.

The midfielder picked up the ball from about thirty meters away and hit the ball into the top left corner, leaving Sienna Lugato without a chance.

After dominating the ball, Brentford were rewarded with a second goal just after the hour mark and it was Logie who struck to take her goal tally to 51 for the season.

The attacker tapped the ball in via the far post after an excellent cross from Ellen Wardlaw from the right flank.

Moments later, the striker almost scored an incredible goal when she hit the ball on the volley from 25 yards, but the ball hit the post.

Clapton was limited to very few chances in the second half as Brentford’s backline remained strong throughout.

Brentford Women’s scheduled match against Candem and Islington this Sunday has been postponed. Further updates on this will be provided during the week.
