Klopp’s penultimate Anfield clash saw Liverpool beat Tottenham 4-2

May 5 (THEWILL) – Liverpool returned to winning ways with a 4-2 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in Jurgen Klopp’s penultimate match at Anfield. Despite Spurs’ attempted comeback, the Reds have now suffered just two defeats in 32 encounters in the English Premier League against their London rivals.

Mohamed Salah opened the scoring after 16 minutes, heading in a cross from Cody Gakpo. Andrew Robertson then doubled the lead, poking home the rebound from Salah’s shot. Gakpo beat Cristian Romero to head in Liverpool’s third goal shortly after the restart, before Harvey Elliott’s stunning curler made it 4-0.

Richarlison pulled one back for Spurs and neatly turned home Brennan Johnson’s cross. He then unselfishly laid the ball off for Heung-min Son to score, casting slight doubt on a Liverpool collapse. However, the hosts held on and recorded their first win in three games.

Spurs suffered their fourth consecutive EPL defeat for the first time since November 2004, conceding 13 goals during that run. Meanwhile, Liverpool’s victory leaves them five points behind leaders Arsenal with two games remaining in the season.
