Stage 3: First big chance for the pure fast men of the peloton

The puncheur and pure climbers have had the chance to shine this Giro d’Italia, and now it’s the sprinters’ turn in stage 3. They face just 750 meters of cumulative elevation gain during the 166km race from Novara to Fossano, with the only Category 4 climb of the day coming 58.1km from the start.

A short climb takes place in Cherasco, with 22 km to go, but it has not resulted in an official categorization, which will encourage the big sprinters with an aversion to climbing stages.

The last 3 kilometers are almost completely straight, apart from a sharp bend with 1.3 km to go. Watch out for the battle for positions and the chance to see which sprinters are in top form.
