Who will win the Premier League? Prediction of the title race, analysis of the remaining matches

The race for the Premier League title will be an extremely close race to the end as we enter the final part of the 2023-2024 season.

But who will win it all?

Reigning champions Manchester City are in a very strong position, but even though the Gunners have the toughest remaining schedule, they are hanging in there. Liverpool have the Jurgen Klopp factor as he enters his last few games in charge, but the Reds have stumbled into exactly the wrong time of the season and now appear to be out of the title race.

At one point we mentioned Aston Villa and Tottenham outside the title contenders, but any fairytale hopes they had were dashed.

With a handful of games to go, it’s all about Arsenal and Manchester City, while Liverpool still have a very slim chance of winning the Premier League trophy.

Below we focus on the current top three in the Premier League and predict the points they will get and how it will all play out between now and the final day on May 19.

Current position: 1st
Current points: 83 points (+60 goal difference)
Remaining games: Manchester United (A), Everton (H)
Predicted points: 89 points

We thought Mikel Arteta’s side were a different animal to last season. But their shock defeat at home to Aston Villa (a very good side) felt all too familiar to their collapse last season. But Arteta’s side bounced back with four straight PL wins as he rolled out Bukayo Saka, Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard time and time again. Their away match at Man United now seems the most likely stumbling block for Arsenal. City have more depth and experience, but Arsenal have real quality and can take it to the last game of the season. The Gunners wait patiently for any mistake from Man City.

Manchester city

Current position: 2nd
Current points: 82 points (+54 goal difference)
Remaining games: Fulham (A), Tottenham (A), West Ham (H)
Predicted points: 91 points

We all know City are a huge force and at this time of the season they are going strong. Although they look vulnerable to the counter-attack, Erling Haaland is fit again and his four goals against Wolves underlined that his clinical nature has returned. City are in imperious form and have reached their peak at the right time. They know that if they win their last three games (all very winnable, with Tottenham the only really difficult game, but do Spurs want to give Arsenal a chance at winning the title?), they will be champions. They are now the red-hot favorites.

Current position: 3rd
Current points: 78 points (+43 goal difference)
Remaining games: Aston Villa (A), Wolves (H)
Predicted points: 84 points

Just as Liverpool’s injury problems were subsiding, they suffered a shock home loss to Crystal Palace and have now fallen to Everton and drawn to West Ham in a triple setback. Their lack of ruthlessness in recent poor games proves there were nerves and while the Klopp factor was the x-factor for Liverpool as their players wanted to give him a trophy-laden final, they will surely fall just short.

And the winner will be…

Manchester City! Okay, this prediction could change before May 19, but you can’t ignore Pep Guardiola’s side being in top form at the perfect time of the season. City still need to rotate expertly, but they have so much experience in these types of situations. It’s clearly an advantage for Manchester City, but Arsenal are hanging in there and will make the most of any misstep from Manchester City. Liverpool are no longer really a factor after their poor form in April. There are plenty of twists and turns to come. Get the popcorn.
