Starting Pitcher Streamer Fantasy Baseball Rankings: 5/5 & 5/6

Here are today and tomorrow’s daily SP Streamer fantasy baseball rankings.

Each day of the 2024 baseball season, I’ll take a look at today’s and tomorrow’s scheduled starting pitchers and rank their matchups for your fantasy baseball streams.

There’s a lot to it and you can hang out with me at to talk about the specific ranks as I make them every weekday morning from 10am – 12pm ET. If you have any questions about these ranks, please ask during the morning Playback AMA. These are my business hours, as I don’t usually answer comments on the site.

There are four levels in this ranking with twelve teamers in mind:

Automatic start – Just do it. Don’t think about this too much, start the man. This also applies to “if I classified them, I start them” pitchers.

Probably starting – I’m probably going to start with these weapons, although I recognize there’s more risk than we’d like. Either it’s a tough matchup for a good, non-elite pitcher, or it’s a weak lineup for a inconsistent arm. These pitchers, in my opinion, have a 50% or better chance of performing well and I start them in most situations.

Doubtful beginning – Think of this level as: “I don’t want to start these pitchers in a vacuum, but you could do worse.” Streamers in this tier are not pitchers I target and only if you desperately need one. To play it safe with streaming, just launch the Probably Start streamers.

Do not start – The reward is not worth the risk. Do not do it. Seriously, these pitchers have a very slim chance of success or sometimes not at all.

Obviously, there will be circumstances where pitchers need to move between teams specific to your situation, and these new tiers should provide a little more help than last year’s regular table.

Keep in mind that streaming is far from perfect. If they train more than half the time, I would consider it a success. These matchup rankings and streamer picks will be very different from the actual results throughout the year, so please sympathize with the scathing comments and tweets. I’m just trying to help!

Make sure you read the notes if you’re wondering why I favor certain pitchers over others. I won’t reach everyone and hopefully I will answer the questions you have.

There is a second table in front of it tomorrow Also starting pitcher matchups so everyone can get a jump on their nightly pickups. Please note that these matchups are subject to change, however shall There are times when I use the wrong pitcher. Thank you for your future understanding.

Finally, there are my streaming picks of the day, and keep that in mind I’m forced to choose a streamer every day. The ones that are marked in Vegetable are the streaming choice of the day in the second tier and I’d go with them anywhere. The ones inside Yellow are in the third level and should be fine if you search something on any given day, but I don’t recommend streaming unless you need it. Finally, they are Red are that me Real do not want to start (after all, they are labeled as “Do Not Start”) but have no other choice. Don’t stream these guys until you’re really desperate. A streaming pick is defined as “drafted in 20% or fewer leagues according to Fantasy Pros. This Real emphasizes the point that I would be happy if more than 50% of these worked. I could do the entire schedule under 30/40%, but there’s no fun in that. You can use the rankings to realize who that choice would be instead.

(Opener) – Indicates that a pitcher is opening for that day and the listed pitcher will follow the opener.

While I’m creating my rankings, I thought it would be helpful to show a table of how we rank offenses (in alphabetical order by level):

Nick’s Loose Team Offense Rankings (updated 4/29)

I’m sure it will change as the year goes on and distinctions can be made about teams versus LHP or RHP, but it works as a general table that you should all keep in mind.

Okay, let’s get to it.

This year, with our new daily fantasy baseball projections powered by PLV, I’ll be competing against PL Bot to pick the best streaming option each day.

The streaming record is set by “Was this a productive game for 12-teamers when I started them?” About one PQS with a win and a strikeout per inning with a WHIP of less than 1.20, with a minimum of 5 IP. Close calls are decided via the Playback chat.

Nick’s 2024 streamer record: 25-13

My choice yesterday: Trevor Rogers @ OAK

PL Bot’s 2024 streamer record: 23-15

Today’s rankings of starting pitchers

Automatic start

Freddy Peralta @CHC – Aces go ace. That four-seaman command should return.

Tarik Skubal @ NYY – Aces go ace. The speed is back.

Joe Ryan vs. BOS – Aces go ace.

Logan Webb @ PHI – Aces go ace.

Ryan Pepiot vs. NYM – It’s the Mets. Pepiot is dope.

Garrett hook @ STL – Crochet now has a change, creating a good mix of four stitches. Wild, I know.

Max Fried @ LAD – Aces are going to win… against the Dodgers. Easily the worst match here and Fried ends up at the bottom of the top tier even though he’s been fantastic lately.

Probably starts

Nestor Cortes vs DET – Cortes should have a day at the park against the Tigers.

MacKenzie Gore vs. TOR – Gore’s skills were fantastic. Let’s see how they stack up against a hot/cold Jays crew.

Bryce Miller @ HOU – Miller couldn’t care less about last week’s tough game and we let it happen.

Javier Assad vs. MIL – He is a Vargas rule and those who have it begin it.

Luis Severino @ TBR – The Rays jumped on Quintana, but I still rate them as a solid offense to stream against.

Doubtful start

Kyle Gibson vs. CHW Is it time to actually believe in Gibson…?

Nick Lodolo vs. BAL – The Orioles beat LHP, while Lodolo is sure to rack up strikeouts.

Bailey Falter vs. COLThings didn’t go well in his first of two starts, but this is true Rockie Road.

Jon Gray @ KCR – Its slider is great, will the four-seater be enough?

Cooper Criswell @ MIN – Cooper performed quietly at the start of the week and the Twins are not fierce.

Hunter Brown vs. SEA – We know the stuff is there and is this the start of Brown clicking into place?

Do not start

Alek Manoah @ WSN – Is he actually good enough to go? Will you Real do you want to throw it away there?

Sixto Sánchez @ OAK – I’m not ready to bring Sixto back in even if he gets the athletics here.

Taijuan Walker vs SFG – Walker looks rough, although he was able to find a way through 5+ against the Giants.

Griffin canning @ CLE – It’s still a bit too hittable for my taste. But good to see him avoiding the heart of the four-seam plate lately.

Dean Kremer @ CIN – It’s a decent winning opportunity, but it’s also Cin City for someone without an overwhelming arsenal. His last two starts have been successful, one with 17 scents from four seams + cutters, the other with just… one.

Carlos Carrasco vs. LAA – Who wins, Carrasco’s mediocrity or the Angels’ mediocrity?

Joe Boyle vs. MIA – Even against the Marlins, Boyle isn’t your guy. After all, he still has to throw strikes.

Ryan Feltner @ PIT – Even on the road, I wouldn’t trust Feltner.

Ryne Nelson vs SDP – It is obvious Still ill as Nelson returns from taking on a comebacker.

Matt Waldron @ ARI – Don’t trust a Knuckleballer.

James Paxton vs. ATL – Paxton has fallen in recent weeks and it’s Atlanta.

UPDATE: Matthew Liberatore – I’m not sure how long he’s been at this, let alone production relevant to fantasy.

Daniel Lynch IV vs. TEX – Absolutely not.

Tomorrow the ranking of starting pitchers

Automatic start

Zack Wheeler vs. SFG – Aces go ace.

Cole Ragans vs. MIL – Aces go ace.

Luis Castillo @ MIN – Aces go ace.

Probably starts

Walker Buehler vs. MIA – He’s back! And it’s a great match! And it is one Still ill, right? …Yes. Maybe. I think you’re safe.

Justin Steele vs SDP – This is also one Still ill which we feel good about, with a little more encouragement, as it wasn’t an arm injury, but a more serious foul.

Andrew Heaney @ OAK – Our streaming pick is Heaney, who plays the BSB effective lately and now gets a solid matchup.

Tyler Anderson @ PIT – Anderson was a decent player Toby and the Pirates aren’t scary.

Triston McKenzie vs DET – He has a bum elbow but drove 91+ mph and had a better curveball + this is Detroit.

Sean Manaea @ STL – Manaea has a sink full of options against a Cardinals team struggle.

Doubtful start

Yu Darvish @ CHC – Another Still ill for the road, this time with a volatile pitcher who is probably out of stretch.

Mitch Keller vs. LAA – He is a Cherry bomb, even against the angels.

Kyle Gibson vs. NYM – He’s been fumbling lately, but it’s rare for Gibson to be a reliable arm, even when his sweeper is working.

Tyler Alexander vs. CHW – It’s a solid match, but T-Lex is nothing special.

Kenta Maeda @ CLE – More Cherry bomb stuff here from Maeda.

Do not start

Mike Clevinger @ TBR – Personally, I would avoid Clevinger all around.

Simeon Woods Richardson vs SEA – If his command is good enough, this could work.

Alex Wood vs. TEX – There is some rare wood magic here and there.

Bryse Wilson @ KCR – I wouldn’t expect Wilson to repeat his last performance in the slightest.

Braxton Garrett @ LAD – It’s the final Still ill of four, with the lowest ceiling and the worst matchup.

TBA Giants SP @ PHI – Whoever this is, I wouldn’t roll the dice. It could be a bullpen game.
