Bayer Leverkusen 5-1 Eintracht Frankfurt (May 5, 2024) Game analysis

FRANKFURT, May 5 (Reuters) – Champions Bayer Leverkusen extended its unbeaten streak by securing a 5-1 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga on Sunday.

The result puts Leverkusen at the top with 84 points, while Frankfurt are sixth with 45. Leverkusen’s unbeaten record now stretches to 48 games in all competitions.

Leverkusen broke the deadlock with Granit

Leverkusen regained the lead just before half-time with Patrick Schick’s towering header and secured their third goal in the 58th minute after a penalty converted by Exequiel Palacios after Niels Nkounkou pulled Nathan Tella by the shirt.

Jeremy Frimpong added a fourth for the visitors in the 77th minute, tapping home a cross into the penalty area from point-blank range, while Victor Boniface made it five from the penalty spot a minute from time after Ansgar Knauff had brought down Frimpong. (Reporting by Tommy Lund in Gdansk)
