Bengaluru: A court in Bengaluru on Sunday sent Holenarasipur JD(S) leader HD Revanna to Special Investigation Team (SIT) custody till May 8, SIT sources said. Meanwhile, HD’s son Revanna and Prajwal Revanna were served a Blue Corner Notice by the Interpol.

The SIT officials had arrested HD Revanna on May 4 in a kidnapping case registered against him. The leader was arrested from the house of his father, former Prime Minister and JD(S) supremo HD Deve Gowde in Padmanabha Nagar in Bengaluru. SIT is also investigating rape allegations against HD Revanna and Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna in the obscene video case.

The case against HD Revanna arose after a complaint was filed by a woman’s son, accusing him of kidnapping and illegally detaining his mother, who is a mother of three. Following the rejection of his bail application, Revanna was remanded in custody following a medical examination at Bowring and Lady Curzon Hospital.

Prajwal, who is also a JD(S) MP from Hassan and was a BJP-JD(S) candidate for the Lok Sabha seat, faces charges including rape and sexual assault.

The kidnapping complaint against HD Revanna was filed by the victim’s son, who alleged that a close associate of the MLA, Sathish Babanna, took his mother away on a motorcycle under false pretenses. Allegations of coercion to prevent the victim from speaking to police were also made.

Following this, a series of FIRs were registered, including one accusing HD Revanna of kidnapping and illegal detention. In the first case in Holenarasipura, the cook and relative of the Revannas complained that HD Revanna and his son Prajwal had abused her, as reported by PTI. In the second complaint to CID Bengaluru, a JD(S) leader accused Prajwal of raping her at gunpoint, recording the incident on video and then blackmailing her. The third complaint is against HD Revanna and relates to the kidnapping and illegal detention of a woman.

Before his court appearance, Revanna denied any involvement and labeled the allegations a “political conspiracy.”

Meanwhile, Prajwal Revanna remains abroad where efforts are on to bring him back to India. Karnataka Home Minister Dr G. Parameshwara confirmed the issuance of a Blue Corner Notice and the direction of Interpol to assist in his return.

A Blue Corner Notice, issued by Interpol, attempts to collect additional information from member states about a person’s identity, whereabouts or involvement in criminal activity.
