Vegas Golden Knights vs. Dallas Stars: Game 7 best bets

Games here. We. To go. Tonight once again features one of the best matchups in all of sports in Dallas, Game 7. The Stars host the Vegas Golden Knights in the winner-takes-all final match of this series, and what a whirlwind it has been.

Let’s take a look back at this series.

Games 1 and 2

The Golden Knights took the first two games on the road in Dallas. They won Game 1 4-3, but managed only 15 total shots on goal. They took the lead early and didn’t let Dallas get within 1 minute until late in the third period and held on. In Game 2, Dallas found a 1-0 lead after nearly 17 minutes of play, but the Knights tied the game before the end of the first period and never looked back. Vegas ended up scoring 3 unanswered goals and winning 3-1.

Games 3 and 4

Then we headed back to Vegas where the road team once again stole both games! After leading 2-0 midway through the second period, Dallas gave up two goals as the Knights tied the game. After a scoreless third-place finish, we headed to OT, where Wyatt Johnston got the win for the Stars after 16 minutes of extra time. Dallas defeated the Knights 46-34 in Game 3. After that thriller, the Stars looked much more focused.

In Game 4, the Stars trailed 1-0 but tied before the end of the first, and trailed 2-1 early in the second period. Dallas put up two goals in the second period, led 3-2 entering the third, and sealed it with an empty-netter to win 4-2. Back to Dallas we went for Game 5, where we finally got a win for the home team.

Games 5 and 6

The Stars won 3-2, making it three straight wins in the series after dropping the first two. Once again they were 1-0 down early, but fought back to reach 2 after the first draw. A second-period goal from Jason Robertson won the game for Dallas, who headed back to Vegas with a chance to advance. But the Knights had other plans.

In Game 6, with their backs against the wall, Adin Hill stopped all 23 shots to record a shutout, while the Knights took 30 shots and ultimately found the back of the net twice in the third period to lead 2–0 win and force the ball. Game 7 that we are blessed with tonight.

It all comes down to this.

Can Oettinger lead the Stars to another win?

Can the Knights win on the road in Game 7?

Can the Knights win on the road in Game 7?

This series is as tight as it gets. The Golden Knights are outshooting the Stars 15-14 in six games in this series, but the Stars have been hitting the net more. They beat VGK 176-166, but like I said, these teams are neck and neck.

Obviously these teams are playing three games apiece since we see Game 7 tonight, and what’s intriguing to me is how juicy this is. At BetOnline, Under 5.5 is priced at (-135), which means they really think we’ll see 5 goals or less. This number has dropped in 4 of the 6 matches in this series, and in the last 2, with a total of only 7 goals scored in the L2 matches.

I have to think Vegas is putting Adin Hill between the posts because he has a .938 save percentage in the two games he has played, including that shutout two nights ago. He stopped 45/48 shots and allowed just 1.5 goals per game, and Jake Oettinger isn’t far behind him. The Stars goaltender has played all six games, with a save percentage of .921 and a GA/G of 2.1. With both teams averaging less than 30 shots per game this series, I’m backing the under tonight.

Adin Hill has committed the past two games for the Golden Knights

Can Hill lead the Knights to victory on the road to Dallas?

Best bet: VGK/DAL under 5.5 (-135) BetOnline

We opt for defense, conservative hockey and fantastic goaltending. You could also say that we’re hoping for a slow, boring game. I gave you all the goalie stats so I’ll spare you the details again, but I really think these goalies will stand on their heads tonight and protect the net in Game 7.

Both defenses are allowing fewer than 30 shots per game this season, and that’s what we got in the playoffs. I think we’ll see an increased focus on blocked shots and limiting scoring opportunities from both sides, leading to a relatively easy night for the goaltenders.

Give me the under in Game 7 tonight.
