Truck drivers operating in the Tema Port enclave have declared their intention to initiate a sit-down strike from Monday, May 6, 2024.

In a notice issued, the action addresses a number of pressing issues they face. These include unlawful detention and intimidation, attacks by armed robbers and demands for illegal payments.

The truckers are calling for immediate action to address these concerns, stating that trucks will no longer be operational at the ports from May 6.

Furthermore, the truck drivers are planning to hold a press conference at the JAPTU Ghana Secretariat at Tema Port on Monday, May 6 to further clarify their position.

We demand immediate action against:
1 Attacks by armed robbers
2 Intimidation by uniformed personnel
3 Requirements for illegal payments
4 Unlawful detention and abuse

From Monday, May 6, 2024, NO TRUCKS WILL MOVE in Ghana’s ports.

THE LIVES OF DRIVERS MATTER!!!!!

There will also be a press conference at the JAPTU Ghana Secretariat at Tema Port (behind the Agency Block tomorrow, Monday at 11am)
