Fort Worth voters support increasing hotel tax for convention center renovations – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth

Fort Worth voters support a 2% hotel tax increase to help pay for the convention center’s renovation.

After preliminary vote totals were released, more than 70% of voters supported Proposition A, which would increase the tax visitors pay to stay in hotel rooms in the city to 17%.

Not all districts have reported; the latest vote totals are below.

If passed, the resolution would fund the expansion and renovation of the convention center, including the demolition and replacement of the existing half-century-old arena, and would do so without raising property taxes or sales taxes.

Visit Fort Worth, that Prop. A agreed, saying Fort Worth is the 13th largest city in the country, but the convention center ranks 47th in available space.
