People are baffled as Elon Musk takes aim at JK Rowling amid controversy

You’d really save yourself a lot of trouble if you just weren’t on Twitter

Elon Musk has asked JK Rowling to spend her time on the social media platform he bought for billions to talk about something else for a change.

As you may have understood in recent years, the Harry Potter author has become controversial for her views on the rights of the transgender community.

It has also eaten up quite a bit of her social media output, as she recently called out the actors who appeared in the film adaptations of her films.

Rowling had responded to the findings of a study into NHS gender identity services by Dr Hilary Cass, saying she was “bloody angry” about it.

One of her followers said they were ‘waiting for Dan and Emma to give you a very public apology’, a reference to the support Harry Potter stars Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson gave to transgender people.

Radcliffe wrote an essay for LGBTQ+ group The Trevor Project in which he apologized for the “pain” Rowling had caused, while Watson told her trans followers that she and “so many other people around the world see you, respect you and love you to love who you are’. Are’.

Many others Harry Potter stars have weighed in on the issue, and when Rowling’s follower told her they expected an apology from Radcliffe and Watson “knowing you will forgive them,” the author didn’t seem intent on building bridges, writing, “Not safe, I’m anxious.

“Celebrities who joined a movement to erode women’s hard-won rights and used their platforms to encourage the transition of minors can save their apologies for traumatized detransitioners and vulnerable women who rely on single-sex spaces.”

Radcliffe was recently asked about what Rowling said, and explained that without his perspective, his life would have been very different Harry Potter “That doesn’t mean you owe the things you really believe to someone else for the rest of your life.”

That’s just some of Rowling’s regular social media activity on the subject, and her feed is full of other posts containing her views on trans rights.

It has reached a point where X (Twitter) boss Elon Musk has asked her if she would like to post about a different topic for a while.

Yesterday (May 4), he responded to a month-old post from Rowling, writing: “While I wholeheartedly agree with your points on sex/gender, may I suggest posting interesting and positive content on other issues as well ?”

Yep, that’s X’s boss asking one of the most followed accounts on

The Ron actor said in a statement in 2020: “I stand firmly with the trans community and echo the sentiments expressed by many of my peers. Trans women are women. Trans men are men.”

In an interview with the Times two years later, he added: “I liken JK Rowling to an aunt. I don’t necessarily agree with everything my aunt says, but she’s still my aunt. It’s a tricky one matter.”

The Voldemort actor told The New York Times in 2022: “The verbal abuse against her is disgusting, horrible.

“I can understand a point of view that might be angry about what it says about women. But it’s not some obscene, far-right fascist. It’s just a woman saying, ‘I’m a woman and I feel like I’m a am a woman.’ and I want to be able to say that I am a woman”.

Lynch played Luna Lovegood in the films and told the Telegraph: “I just felt like her character has always advocated for the most vulnerable members of society. The problem is that there is disagreement about who is most vulnerable.

“I wish people would just give her more grace and listen to her.”
