MSU men’s tennis falls to Harvard in the second round of the NCAA tournament

BOSTON – Michigan State Men’s Tennis was defeated 4-0 by No. 12 Harvard in the Boston Regional Finals on Friday, ending the team portion of the Spartans’ historic season – a season of firsts that included 22 wins and first victories on the program. -ever NCAA tournament win, Friday in the first round against a previously undefeated team from Denver.

The collegiate season is not over yet for three Spartans – sophomore Ozan Baris, graduating senior Ronald Hohmann III and junior Max Sheldon – who will compete at the NCAA singles and/or doubles championships beginning May 20 in Stillwater, Oklahoma.

“I’m just proud of the boys. We fought hard,” MSU coach Harry Jadun said. “We didn’t have our best stuff today, but Harvard played very well and in an NCAA tournament you have to do your best. (The) doubles point was obviously very contentious and we had a lot of match points on a few courts and in the singles. They got a good lead and we actually tried to stay in it.”

“We want to break even more records next year and do some things that haven’t been done yet,” Jadun continued. “But it just means a lot. You see the seniors who came in here during COVID and are graduating; it’s super special for them to leave this program in a better place. I’m excited about what the future holds and hopefully this is just one step up the mountain.”
