Thunderstorms/rain will bring down the temperature in Odisha over the next three days

Bhubaneswar: This is good news for the people of Odisha. After several days of severe heatwave, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) regional center in Bhubaneswar on Sunday forecast rain, lightning and gusty surface winds in the state over the next few days.

According to the weather department, rain activities are likely to bring much-needed respite to the heat wave while some parts of the state are likely to experience gusty surface winds at speeds of 30 to 40 kmph in the coming days.

While any major change in the maximum (day) temperature over the next 24 hours has been ruled out, the IMD says the mercury may fall by 4 to 6 degrees Celsius in the next 3-4 days under the influence of the Northwest. .

The IMD has forecast light rain/thundershowers at some places in Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Ganjam, Gajapati, Koraput and Rayagada in the next 24 hours. At the same time, heat wave conditions will prevail in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Boudh, Angul, Nayagarh, Nuapada and Balangir.

Meanwhile, the weather department has warned fishermen not to venture into the rough seas along and off the north coast of Odisha between May 6 and 8.
