Multi-vehicle crash leaves 1 dead, 5 injured in Philadelphia – NBC10 Philadelphia

One person was killed and several were injured in a high-speed multi-vehicle crash in Philadelphia’s Holmesburg neighborhood Friday evening.

According to police, the crash happened at 8400 State Road and Ashburner Street around 9:11 p.m.

Police said the preliminary investigation revealed that a silver Nissan SUV was traveling north on State Road and turning left onto Ashburner Street when it made contact with a black 2012 Honda traveling south at a high rate of speed.

The black Honda then collided with another vehicle — a black Ford Escape — and a utility pole, causing the pole to become lodged in the black Honda, police said.

Police say the driver of the Nissan SUV fled the scene.

Police said there were three people in the black Honda. One passenger was pronounced dead at the scene by medics at around 9.30pm and the other two people were taken to hospital by medics in extremely critical condition.

The three people in the Ford Escape were transported to the hospital and were in stable condition, police said.

According to the police, the investigation is ongoing with the Crash Investigation Department.
