ACTION 8 UPDATE: Reward increases to $5,000 to help solve Montgomery woman’s murder

ACTION 8 UPDATE: A $5,000 reward is now being offered in hopes of solving the murder of 52-year-old Yvette Carter of Montgomery.

Central Alabama CrimeStoppers says Montgomery City Councilman Oronde Mitchell donated $1,000 and Montgomery County Commissioner Carmen Moore-Zeigler also donated $1,000 to CrimeStoppers. Additionally, CrimeStoppers has increased the reward from $1,000 to $3,000.

On Saturday, February 11, 2023, at approximately 10:35 p.m., police and medics responded to a shooting in the 4900 block of Hatton Avenue, in the Southlawn community. They found Carter with a gunshot wound. She later died at the scene.

Investigators say three suspects were seen leaving a small black sedan with no tint and factory wheels before the shooting. The three subjects wore hoodies.

One person was seen walking out of the car before the shooting, wearing all black with a white or gray hoodie, black pants and white shoes, pulling a gun from his pants.

The victim’s family is pleading for answers.
