‘When Calls the Heart’ star Mamie Laverock was put on life support after falling from five stories

“When Calls the Heart” star Mamie Laverock is in intensive care after the actress suffered a serious fall.

Laverock, best known for her role as Rosaleen Sullivan on the Hallmark Channel romantic drama, has reportedly been placed on a ventilator after suffering serious injuries during a fall Sunday, according to a GoFundMe page set up for the actress.

Laverock “was escorted from a secure area of ​​the hospital and taken to a balcony hallway where she fell five stories,” GoFundMe organizers Rob and Nicole Compton wrote. “She suffered life-threatening injuries, has undergone multiple extensive surgeries and is currently on a ventilator. We are all devastated and in shock at this intensely difficult time.”

The actress had been “under intensive treatment for the past two weeks” after being hospitalized on May 11 in Winnipeg, Canada, for an undisclosed “medical emergency,” according to Laverock’s GoFundMe. She was then taken to a hospital in Vancouver.

Laverock first appeared on “When Calls the Heart” during the series’ first season in 2014, according to the actress’s IMDb page. After an eight-season hiatus, she returned for season 10 in 2023.

Laverock’s other credits include the 2012 action comedy “This Means War,” a two-episode stint in the Netflix children’s drama “A Series of Unfortunate Events” and the 2020 Lifetime film “Spotlight on Christmas,” according to IMDb.

Laverock’s ‘When Calls the Heart’ colleagues Erin Krakow and Johannah Newmarch took to social media to express their support for Laverock during her hospital stay.

Krakow, who plays Elizabeth Thornton, shared a photo from Laverock’s GoFundMe page on Instagram and encouraged her fans to help. “💔I just donated,” she wrote. “If you have the means to do that, I hope you will too.”

Newmarch also shared her co-star’s online fundraiser on Instagram, along with an emotional caption.

“I love this wonderful family so much, and my heart is broken,” wrote Newmarch, who plays Molly Sullivan. “This is a devastating time for them and for everyone who cares deeply about sweet Mamie. Please help if you can. They need all the support they can get to get through this nightmare.”

In a statement to People magazine and Variety, a Hallmark Media spokesperson said the network is “deeply saddened to hear the news about Mamie.”

USA TODAY has reached out to Hallmark Media for comment.

“As a beloved member of our ‘When Calls the Heart’ community, we wish her and her family peace, comfort and many prayers during this difficult time,” the statement concluded.
